gLiveview

This is a very useful onscreen monitoring tool created by Guild operators

Installation

There are other onscreen monitoring tools but my preferred one right now is gLiveView by the Guild Operators.

Follow the link below to install gLiveView:

Updates

gLiveView is regularly updated for improvements, bug fixes and to keep up with changes to the Cardano codes. These changes are deployed through a question that appears when there is an update and you start up gLiveView. As a rule, you should always apply these updates but there are times when you should not. See below tips for details.

Tip: What to reply to gLiveView update question

The following are my recommendations if you get the question to update gLiveView:

  • If the update is to the environment variable file (env), it should be safe to always apply it

  • If the update is to introduce support for a newer version of Cardano binaries, select No

The reason why I recommend the above is because if you select Yes to an update due to a Cardano version uograde, you will lose access to gLiveView until you have completed the upgrade of your Cardano binaries. This will be very inconvenient especially if you are not yet ready for the Cardano upgrade.

Selecting No allows you to continue using gLiveView until after you have upgraded the Cardano binaries. After your upgrade, you may then select Yes to the gLiveView update.
